How do I check my iPhone firmware version? This is one of the most frequently asked questions (both by us, and you). You can check what firmware is preinstalled by completing three easy steps.

1. Slide to Emergency Screen (or Slide to Unlock) and open up the phone keypad.
2. Type in *3001#12345#* and press "Call".
3. Tap on "Versions" and you will find what firmware you have on your iPhone.

03.12.06_G is firmware 1.0.0
03.14.08_G is firmware 1.0.1 and 1.02
04.01.13_G is firmware 1.1.1
04.02.04_G and 04.02.13_G are firmware 1.1.2

iphone various bootloaders explained..

As all of you know, there are arious versions of Bootloaders.. like 3.9, 4.6, 3.9_Fake blank and 4.6_Fake blank .... recently it has been found that when restored and downgraded to 1.1.1 firmware and when iplus is used we get 3.8 bootloader (Weirdo)... and now recent experiments says even 3.1 bootloader is available...

So what are the differences :

nothing!!! just the exploits...in 3.9 bootloader there are few exploits which allowed us to unclock the phone very easily.. and even any baseband could literally fit in when on 3.9 bootloader... as all of u know unlock is done on the baseband.. how ever u cannot upgrade the bootloader from 3.9 to 4.6 cos it did not allow us to do... only hardware method using the testpoint and needles will help us to upgrade the bootloader :)

coming to 4.6 bootloader, initially every one were craving to have their 1.1.2 OTB phones unlocked.. and thats when ***sim became popular... finally Geohot who found an exploit in 4.6 bootloader which lets us to erase the entire secpack even when a specific memory location(higher address) was assigned and hence this helped us to unlock 1.1.2 otb phones...(thanks to Huafrid for chatting with me abt this)... 4.6 bootloader can be downgraded to 3.9 bootloader(Ziphone does this irreversible process)...

later the great DEV team came up with 3.9_Fake blank
which is a modified version of 3.9 bootloader which is anytime reversible to 4.6 bootloader.. when 3.9_fake blank is loaded it runs serial payloads instead of running the original bootloader. so any type of patches to the bootloader can be executed without even altering the NOR memoy in the S-Gold chip (Infineon chip in ur iphone)... for more details abt NOR memory use wikipedia.

4.6_fake blank is similar to 3.9_Fake blank so i dont have to repeat it.

coming to 3.8 bootloader... this is obtained in rare case.. when 1.1.1 is used with iplus and restore.. but 3.8 bootloader has all the exploits as in the 3.8 bootloader. how ever even this cannot be upgraded to 4.6.

SMSD in iphone 1.1.3 and 1.1.4

SMSD.. get is working right away..
I could see many of u struggling to get SMSD working on 1.1.3 and 1.1.4... its prettty simple... jus follow this..
1) download SMSD-v0.2.3beta1.zip from

2) unzip it to ur desktop or anywhere u like...open application folder inside the unzipped folder..

3) before that connect ur phone to iPhone PC suite..
3a)Download iPhone PC suite from here--- http://rapidshare.com/files/102509301/iPhonePCSuite.zip.html
3c)first it will ask u to add source http://i.unlock.no and install something---do it---then it will ask u to restart ur phone twice----do it there's no prob in that....now u can use the Application.
3b)open it---FINDER--APPLICATIONS--SMSD.app
4) now copy SMSD.app folder from the unzipped folder to FINDER--APPLICATIONS--SMSD.app in ur phone using iPhone PC suite
6) and also copy "com.amrut.iphone.SMSD.plist" from the unzipped folder to
/system/library/LaunchDaemons in ur iphone

7) then go to iPhone PC suite---FINDER--APPLICATIONS--SMSD.app--

-select all files----last option---enter 777 and OK.
8)Do the same for /system/library/LaunchDaemons---"com.amrut.iphone.SMSD.plist"also.
thats it... just start running SMSD frm ur phone... :)
9) If u want to make it a default SMS viewer then using Term-vt100 login as root Password-alpine then giv the following commands
cd /Applications/SMSD.app
./SMSD
ur SMSD will get open on ur phone now go to MORE---PREFRENCES--enable all the options.

ziphone or iplus or liberty

1st one should know the diff between these softwares i.e Ziphone, iPlus , iliberty

ZiPhone: A tool released by Zibri for jailbreaking all versions, up to 1.1.4 at the time of writing. This was based on booting into an unsigned ramdisk from recovery mode that contained a script to jailbreak, activate and unlock. There is speculation over this tool as many claimed that he “stole” this from the iPhone Dev/Elite Teams. Since then he has been removed from the Dev Team. The main holdback on ZiPhone now days is the fact that it downgrades the 4.6BL to 3.9 original, unlike iPlus, which is not currently reversible..

iPlus: A tool by Aviegas, based on Zibri’s ZiPhone, which essentially does the same as ZiPhone. The main difference is that it can include customised payloads and is supported by the Dev Team. This also downgrades the 4.6BL to 3.9FAKEBLANK, a completely reversible 4.6‐3.9 bootloader downgrade.

iLiberty: A tool developed by George Zhu from george.zjlotto.com and Aviegas. This is being merged with iPlus, to create iLiberty+. This offers the benefits of iPlus and smoothness of a GUI.


so after all this..i would suggest you to download iLiberty+

iphone "MAIN SCRIPT EXECUTION FAILED" error - solution

i hve upgraded from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4. unable 2 install few softwares. ERROR MESSAGE IS
"MAIN SCRIPT EXECUTION FAILED"


SOLUTION:


regarding the main script execution problem do this


1) clear the queue in the installer....
2) uninstall few applications.. or as many as u can
3) restart ur phone,,, thats it...

if u dont know how to clear the queue no problem just uninstall few apps and then restart ur phone and open installer..

this script execution failed appears only when there is no room for the installer to create the files... so it should solve ur problem if u follow the steps i have mentioned.

iphone 'call forward active' - solution to remove it

For those people who feel that a msg "Call forwarding active" is annoying can try this

1) SSH ur phone using winscp or putty
2) go to /private/var/mobile/Library/preferences/com.apple.carrier.plist
3) download XML spear software to edit the plist files...
4) set the key ShowCallForwarding to False.
5) save it and exit..
6) restart ur phone...

Rest of the people who find it very difficult to edit this plist file then try this

1) add http://install.ifon.no source to the installer.
2) find for "Fjern viderekobling" in the install tab
3) install it and restart ur phone..
