iphone restore error 1015 - solution..

It's the same problem again... Baseband firmware not matching the phone.. I get a lot of these lately especially since the 2.0 was launched. This solution should work for all 1012/1013/1014/1015 problems.

Simply use iLiberty or independance or ziphone (whatever you are comfortable with) to get your phone in the normal mode.

In iLiberty it's under the Advanced Menu called "Exit Restore Mode" or something.
Once it gets out of Recovery mode, it's back to normal.
If you're using Ziphone, click "Restart in Normal mode"

Once your iPhone is "Alive"... Jailbreak it (so you have the installer)

... at any stage, if you get service, STOP. (Coz I believe that you don't need to repair something that already works)

Now simply downgrade the baseband (from the iClarified source) OR completely erase the baseband (Using Baseband Eraser from the iClarified SOurce) and restore to 1.1.4 again... preferably from the DFU mode so you can be sure your baseband is written to a version matching your firmware.

After your phone is restored to a 1.1.4... unlock as usual using iLiberty (or anything else that works) and you're good to go.

(VERY UNLIKELY... But If you're still stuck, dial *#06# and lemme know what's your IMEI. I hope you are not stuck with an IMEI starting with 0049... coz that's an entirely different problem altogether.)

Good luck

I am trying to o back to 1.1.4 from 2.0 but error 1015 is still showing up i followed ur step and still. What do I do?

I have the same problem as Gus. Checked the IMEI and it does not start with 0049. I erased the baseband through Ziphone since I could not find my version in iClarified. Could that be the problem?

Thanks! After upgrading to 2.0.2, I was continuosly getting 16xx, 10, -20, -2, -8, 1012 errors. I was disturbed for last 3 days. Your post helped me somewhere.
Friends, if u are getting 16xx errors, just change the machine. I got luck on 4th machine. I installed iTunes 7.7 then uninstalled it. Then install 7.5. Booted in DFU Mode and then loaded 1.1.4 firmware. It failed to verify the firmware and gave 1014 and 1012 error. I booted phone through ZiPhone and followed the steps mentioned in this post. Now, I am happy with 1.1.4. 2.0.x is extremely slow.
