iphone restore error 1012 - solution

"Like many people I also did mistake of downloading firmware 2.0
NOW i m stuck
when I try to restore my firmware itunes says error 1012.
and then if i unlock the phone anyway
-it does not have sounds(ipod not working)
-no wifi
-no bluetooth
-no imei
-no serial number
and it keeps on saying"repair needed"
i tried refurbish in ziphone,does not work.
I tried to restore to 1.1.1, 1.1.3 ,1.1.4...same problem-"error 1012".
I tried to put in DFU mode through ziphone and iliberty but it shows same error.
plz help"



SOLUTION:

Try this:

1. DO NOT use Ziphone for the entire process. Especially the way it forces your phone in DFU mode. It does this by overloading a writable buffer till it overflows to the heap region. NOT recommended for the pwn logic used.

2. I'm guessing your phone is still PWNed.. Restore your iPhone using your custom unlocked/activated/jailbreaked firmware in iTunes. You will have to use restore mode. You may get an error at the end in which case use Independence to boot your phone normally.
If you do not have the custom firmware for 1.1.4 on a PWN'd handset, you can get it from ftp://ftp.iphonefix.de/Firmware%20System%20Custom/iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Custom_Restore_iThor.ipsw

3. When you neuter using BootNeuter, your S-Gold radio bootloader (baseband bootloader) gets "pwned". To undo this, run BootNeuter again and turn off all options (and pick 3.9 or 4.6 depending on your preference).

4. IF 2 makes no sense to you... Relockyour phone - use bootneuter and click everything to off (Although I recommnd you keep the neutered bootloader as checks are avoided). Then restore with Apple firmware. And you are back to factory fresh.

5. Try downgrading your baseband firmware and your signal should be up (from the iclarified source). It takes about 20 seconds for the signal to show the first time after the process.
